Frequent Booking Cancellations and Penalties
Updated over a week ago

As airlines and booking systems impose penalties for a high look-to-book ratio – the ratio of the number of flight searches to the number of bookings created (e.g., if a user searches for flights 100 times but only completes one booking), we recommend issuing a minimum of 50% of the booked airline tickets.

If there are more unpaid and canceled bookings, the work with airline tickets

on our website may be restricted partially or completely.

What Is Considered a Canceled Booking?

A canceled booking is the one for which airline tickets were not issued. To avoid such situations, pay attention to the time limit – the period during which you need to issue a ticket. It is indicated in the offer card on the search results page in the upper right corner.

Learn more about the time limit and other important details in the offer cards here.

Important: Only unpaid bookings are counted in the cancellation statistics. If you issue (pay for) airline tickets and then cancel the booking, the cancellation percentage will not increase.

How Many Bookings Can Be Canceled?

This depends on the rules of the specific airline. We recommend paying for at least 50% of bookings while considering both the overall statistics of your airline ticket orders and the statistics for a particular airline.

Example

In the last 30 days, you booked 100 tickets, and at least 50 of them must be paid for. Furthermore, 40 of these tickets were booked with airline N, and at least 20 of them must be paid for.

What Happens If You Exceed the Limit?

The course of action depends on how much the cancellation limit is exceeded, as well as the total number of airline ticket bookings:

  • If the excess is small (e.g., 52% cancellations), your manager will contact you and inform you about possible consequences.

  • If the percentage of cancellations greatly exceeds the bookings of a specific airline, the flight options of that carrier will no longer appear in the search results.

  • If the percentage of cancellations significantly exceeds the bookings for all airlines, the option to book airline tickets on our website will be completely disabled. If such situation happened, please contact your manager, and he will advise you on how to restore the ability to book tickets.

We are always ready to address the situation and provide partners with full access to booking travel services. If you have any questions or need assistance with airline ticket booking, please contact your manager.
